For nearly four decades, the name Herndon Fine Art has been synonymous with the pursuit of the hard-to-find. We have never believed in "shopping carts" or automated transactions; we believe in the art of conversation. We believe that acquiring a masterpiece requires a direct dialogue between the collector and the expert.
In 2024, this commitment to excellence took a monumental step forward. Russell Herndon and Monica Moynihan (@PatrickNagelArts) joined forces to establish The Art Collective LLC. This alliance represents a "perfect storm" of fine art expertise: the world's most extensive inventory of the Mirage era paired with the industry’s leading scholarly authority.
The foundation of The Art Collective is built upon a landmark acquisition: an extensive, pristine collection sourced directly from the estate of a close associate of former Mirage publisher Karl Bornstein. This collection—composed of Artist Proofs, Printer’s Proofs, and rare "Doubles"—has been preserved in museum-quality condition, many pieces remaining untouched since they left the press.
We provide more than just provenance; we provide peace of mind.
Russell Herndon brings nearly 40 years of market experience, navigating the shifts of the fine art world since the peak of the 1980s aesthetic.
Monica Moynihan is the recognized global authority on the work of Patrick Nagel, frequently consulted by Heritage Auctions to provide historical verification for the world’s most significant sales.
Our mission is to curate and protect the legacies of the three titans of Mirage Editions:
Patrick Nagel: The minimalist architect of the "Nagel Woman."
Dennis Mukai: The master of contemporary glamour and painterly atmosphere.
Robert Hoppe: The Emmy Award-winning visionary of Art Deco revival and cinematic splendor.
At The Art Collective, we don’t just sell prints; we manage a time capsule of graphic art history. Whether you are a seasoned investor or a first-time buyer, we invite you to actually talk with us. Let us share the history, the stories, and the meticulous care behind every piece in our collection.
Announcing an unprecedented collaboration between Monica Moynihan (aka SwimmersGirl @PatrickNagelArts) and Russell Herndon (Herndon Fine Art) - The Art Collective LLC.
